Doreen Vanderstoop is a Calgary storyteller, musician and writer. In her theme-based performances, Doreen enjoys actively engaging her listeners with song, story reflections and humour. Doreen has performed her original creative non-fiction stories, personal anecdotes, literary adaptations and folktales at conferences, festivals, schools, libraries, Jane’s Walks, church gatherings, Tellarounds, story cafes and more. Doreen recently signed a contract with Freehand Books to publish her first novel. She also leads workshops on storytelling to inspire in others a passion for the oral tradition. Doreen is a member of Storytelling Alberta and Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada.
Marie Bryce was the President from 2015 until 2018 with Storytelling Alberta and has been a member of SA since 2013. She is a lover of personal and folk tales, spoken word and movement. Currently Marie is on maternity leave and is sharing the role of past president with Caroline Stewart. Marie is also in charge of the TALES website.
Caroline took over the role of TALES President in 2012 after having been a member of TALES Edmonton for many years. She brings years of loving stories and organizational effectiveness background to her work with TALES. The art of storytelling takes many volunteers and dedicated fans to bring the craft to life and Caroline loves her work as administrator and teller.
Bethany has been a proud member of Storytelling Alberta since 2004 and now acts as secretary by taking minutes at meetings. She works as a storyteller, artist-in-residence, and the playwright and director of Caraway Story Theatre.
Anne Cowling has been writing stories since she was six years old, at which time she was introduced to some Russians and their folk tales. While she still enjoys telling folk tales, especially Russian ones, she more often tells personal stories - the adventures and pratfalls and moments of joy in everyday life.
